Initiators

Aska Ali Hamah-Ameen and Shazada Hussein Muhamad Shazada Hussein Muhamad was born in 1954. She lost her husband during Anfal and survived with her then one year old daughter. She was a testimony at the Iraqi High Tribunal against Saddam Hussein. She has been the main actress in the Iraqi movie "son of Babylon" (2009).

Aska Ali Hamah-Ameenwas born in 1953. She lost her husband and son during Anfal and survived with four children.


Gulnaz Aziz Qadir Gulnaz Aziz Qadir was born in 1974 and lost several relatives during Anfal. In the 1990s she works in social projects for Anfal survivors and became later a member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.




Photographers

Zana Rasul Mohammed, born in 1978, studied at the Institute of fine Arts in Sulaimania, worked as arts teacher Design Director at a local TV station.

Mariwan Ahmad Ali, born in 1978, works as a cameraman and producer at local TV stations.

Barham Tayeb Hamah-Ameen, born in 1981, painter and photographer.

Dyar Ali Jaf, born in 1978, photographer and owner of a photo studio in Rizgary.

Sleman Anwar Bajalan, born 1988, studied at the Arts College in Kifri and works as an art teacher.

Project coordinator in Kurdistan-Iraq

Jamal Wali Ibrahim Jamal Wali Ibrahim (Mam Pola), born in 1967, political scientist, active member of the Kurdish resistance movement against the Baath-regime in the 1980s/1990s. Co-founder of the German NGO HAUKARI. He coordinates the project activities in Kurdistan-Iraq for HAUKARI e.V.




German consultants

Prof. Michael Fehr, Director of the Institute Art in Context at the University of The Arts, Berlin. He advises and rains women Anfal survivors and Kurdish artists in museum concepts.

Ingrid Moye und Christoph Zeller, German architects based in Mexico. They have developed the design for the memorial building.

Dr. Martina Pottek, art historian from Bonn. She has advised Kurdish artists in the process of developing a woman statue for the memorial forum.

Dr. Karin Mlodoch, psychologist, co-founder of HAUKARI e.V., working and research experience with Anfal survivors since 1991. Co-founder of HAUKARI.




About HAUKARI e.V.

HAUKARI - Association of International Cooperation is a German based non-profit-organization with main office in Frankfurt/Main and works in Kurdistan-Iraq since 1995, supporting local partners in the realm of women rights and education, preventive health and assistance to women in situations of violence and crisis. HAUKARI has long standing experience in working with Anfal survivors in the Germyan region. After the fall of the Baath-regime in 2003 HAUKARI has extended its activities to other regions of Iraq and supports initiatives for inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue.

HAUKARI has accompanied Women Anfal Survivors Memorial forum Project since 2009 and received grants for the project from IFA- Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen - projekt zivik (2009 to 2013) and the German Foreign Office, Department of Crisis Prevention, Peace Keeping and Conflict Management (since 2014 ongoing).
